We’re moving forward and implementing the BASP Strategy 2017-2020. As agreed at the AGM the next stage is to identify the infrastructure needed to deliver the strategy and to strengthen our organisational capacity. We’ve looked at how other medical membership organisations are run and the Executive Committee have had discussions about the next steps.

BASP STRATEGY 2017 to 2020

Since the British Association of Stroke Physicians (BASP) was established in 1999, we have contributed to major improvements in stroke care. Stroke medicine is now an established sub-speciality and stroke physicians have contributed to the development of evidence based services throughout the UK.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in Europe. The management of acute ischaemic stroke is a major healthcare challenge but improving outcomes for acute stroke patients offers major benefits to patients, healthcare systems and society worldwide.
